The SA Professional Photography awards were also announced at the beginning of the month. I earned 6 Silver awards and 1 Silver with Distinction award from my 8 entries. And I was pleased to be up there with the best of SA's commercial photographers as one of the 3 finalists in the Commercial Photographer of the Year award. This award was won by David Sievers, who went on to win the overall SA Photographer of the Year Award. Congratulations David! See the award winning images here.
April 2014 The Adelaide Review has published a positive review of Concrete, Space, Light; the architectural photography group exhibition I am in, and used one my photographs for the April front cover of the print version.
"Three works by Peter Barnes of the recently completed SAHMRI building appeal instantly. It is, of course, an outstanding example of contemporary architecture, but what Barnes has done is capture it in its best possible light – literally. The interior shots are particularly stunning for their bright, shiny detail." Leanne Amodeo, Adelaide Review, April 2014.
The exhibition images, plus other interior and exterior photographs of the SAHMRI building can be seen here.
March 2014 Some of my SAHMRI photographs will featured in a joint exhibition by five Adelaide architectural photographers, opening 21 March to 25 April at the Light Gallery, Richmond Road, Marleston. Details here.
January 2014 The February 2014 edition of f11 Magazine, a free but high quality online publication "for photographers and aficionados", has an interview with me and a big mob of my building photographs. They allowed me to blather on a bit about the relationship between architecture and photography. Thanks to Grieve Gillett, Aurecon, Hames Sharley and Wallbridge & Gilbert for the commissions behind several of the published photographs.

July 2012 Pointilism, who make 3D visualisations of proposed architectural designs, commissioned me to take some background shots of the Adelaide evening skyline. Which was great, as I got to get up on the top of 400 King William Street, one of my favourite Adelaide buildings, to take this shot, showing a not often seen aspect of the Adelaide CBD.
May 2012 Scored a gold and a silver award from the 4 images I entered into the Australian Professional Photography Awards judged in Melbourne this month. Very happy about that - gold awards are pretty hard to come by, requiring "excellence in execution and superb visual communication" See the awarded photos here.
